This panel is hosted by ACM Midwifery Advisor Kristy Watson and feature Dr Lauren Kearney, Shenny Gilbert and Thea Milburn. There will be a presentation on the key findings from A qualitative analysis of Australian midwifery students' perspectives of Midwifery Practice Experience: Characteristics that enhance or diminish clinical education placements. The panel will then discuss these and answer questions.

Dr Lauren Kearney
Associate Professor Lauren Kearney is a registered midwife and nurse and is employed as a Conjoint Associate Professor in Midwifery between the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, UQ and the Women's and Newborn Services, Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. Lauren is Head of Midwifery at UQ. Lauren’s research and teaching programs focus on improving outcomes for women and their newborns though EBP and opportunities to facilitate physiological birth.

Thea Milburn
Thea Milburn is a final year Bachelor of Midwifery student at the University of Queensland. Thea has been based at Mater Mother's Hospital for all of her clinical placement, where she has had the privilege of supporting women through all stages of their maternity journey.

Shenny Gilbert
Shenny is a Clinical Midwife who currently works as a Student Clinical Facilitator at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. She is part of a small team that supports undergraduate and postgraduate student Midwives during clinical placement. Shenny has worked in a variety of different hospital settings and is passionate about Midwifery education and supporting the clinical placement experience of future Midwives.
