From the VIC Branch
Welcome to the webpage for the Victorian Branch! Victoria has two branches, VIC Branch and Gippsland Branch so if you’re in the Gippsland area, please refer to their page to see what’s happening in your local area.
Each year the VIC Branch hosts a busy program of events for midwives and student midwives in Victoria. In the past two years we have continued to run successful online seminars and events and we are hoping to return to more in-person events in 2022 with the continued relaxing of COVID restrictions. Our Optimising Maternal and Fetal Well-being and Promoting Normal Birth seminars have formed the foundation of our successful yearly program and last year we also ran two events for student midwives. We also instigated informal meetings via ZOOM each month in 2020. We are continuing with these “drop-ins” as they have become quite popular with both metropolitan and rural/regional members. Invitations are sent via email to ACM members.
Please join our private Facebook group for ACM VIC Branch members. There are currently 400 members in the group sharing information, discussing local maternity care issues and supporting each other. It’s also a good place for finding out about branch and national events and for other midwifery events, posts and discussion.
The revenue generated from our events supports VIC Branch scholarships that are offered each year to support the development of the profession of midwifery in Victoria. These scholarships are promoted directly to members via your email and also on socials. So keep your eye on these.
We are keen to continually review our program of activities and the VIC Branch committee welcomes suggestions from members as to how we can support Victorian midwives professionally.
