Issue 2 contains some additional indicators, some have been moved and some have been modified, and we believe it provides a very clear and extensive framework for health professionals working in the maternity sector.  Included in the Guidelines is information about the three levels of consultation and referral, indications for consultation and referral, advice about working with women who choose care outside the guidelines, and supporting documentation to guide health professionals with the process of referral.

The Guidelines are available in other formats:

These Guidelines have been endorsed by state and territory governments, are embedded in practice at every level, and are used extensively from private practicing midwives through to medical consultants at tertiary hospitals. Endorsed by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).
