Midwives play a crucial role in the prevention and management of sexually transmissible infections (STIs). They have invaluable communication skills and are well placed to identify priority populations for screening within the antenatal setting.

- Outline the role of midwives in STI screening, testing, and sexual health history taking
- Describe the clinical presentation of syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhoea
- Describe the midwives’ role in managing syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhoea
- State the processes for contact tracing/partner notification and identify resources to assist
About the Presenter
This webinar will be presented by Lyn Byers, Nurse Practitioner and registered midwife with Central Australia Primary Health & Nganampa Health. In her current role, Lyn provides health promotion, screening, treatment, contact tracing and sexual health education to her patients. Lyn is also a credentialed supervisor through Family Planning NT and has presented at numerous conferences on various topics.
