ACM NSW Branch is pleased to be offering Margaret Lambert Conference Scholarships and Dr Pat Brodie AM Research Scholarships to our full, graduate and student members in 2020

Margaret Lambert Scholarship

The ACM NSW branch awards a number of scholarships up to the value of $1,000.00 each year, given in memory of Margaret Lambert.  The purpose of the scholarship is to provide midwives and midwifery students of NSW Branch with assistance to attend conferences, workshops or short courses.

Margaret Lambert was a long standing and active member of the NSW Executive Committee and an inaugural fellow of the Australian College of Midwives. It is Margaret’s dedication to midwifery learning and professional sharing that the NSW Branch continues to celebrate by awarding these scholarships every year.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be full members of ACM for at least the previous two years and current members of the NSW Branch; the exception is if you are a student or graduate member of ACM
  • not have defaulted on the terms and conditions of an ACM scholarship previously awarded

Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

  • have demonstrated participation in ACM activities at some stage in the previous two years, if a full member
  • provide details of any other financial support, paid leave or other benefits received in relation to the activity or project aligned to the scholarship application

Terms and Conditions:

If you are awarded a scholarship, you must provide a written report or article for consideration in Australian Midwifery News within three months of completion of the professional development experience.

Dr Pat Brodie Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide midwives and midwifery students of NSW Branch with assistance to undertake research in relation to midwifery and maternity services. Candidates may apply for scholarships up to $5,000.

Adjunct Professor Pat Brodie AM RM MN(Hons) DMid has been involved in a wide range of midwifery practice, education, research and management roles for over 30 years, in Australia, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific. She is highly regarded both nationally and internationally with a strong track record in leading the strategic reform of policy and practice in maternity care. In 2012, Pat was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her services to midwifery. The honour recognised her pioneering efforts in developing midwifery policy and models of care in Australia and her ongoing work in education and research especially in the Pacific Region. NSW Branch celebrates Pat's remarkable career in offering this scholarship.

Eligibility

You must:

  • have been a full member of ACM for at least the previous two years and current member of the NSW Branch; the exception is if you are a student or graduate member of ACM
  • not have defaulted on the terms and conditions of an ACM scholarship previously awarded
  • have demonstrated participation in ACM activities at some stage in the previous two years, if a full member
  • provide details of any other financial support, paid leave or other benefits received in relation to the activity or project aligned to the scholarship application

Terms and Conditions

If you are awarded a scholarship, you must: 

  • provide a written report or article for consideration in Australian Midwifery News within three months of completion of the professional development experience
  • submit an abstract for presentation in relation to the research topic at a relevant conference within one year of completing the project
  • acknowledge ACM when the scholarship has supported any thesis, dissertation, publication or presentation resulting from research/study undertaken
