About us:

The Australian College of Midwives (ACM) is a national, not-for-profit organisation. Our mission is to lead the Australian midwifery profession by advocating for midwives and midwifery, supporting the professional interests of midwives and advancing professional practice and education standards.

Our team includes three small but dynamic offices located in Canberra, Adelaide and Sydney. We provide national advocacy and representation; publications and other services to members; and support to the Board of Directors and other ACM committees. We liaise regularly with ACM branches and with a wide range of stakeholders, organisations, government and individuals. 

About the role:

This is a new position that has been established in order to grow revenue and to achieve the goals and objectives set out in the ACM Strategic Directions and Annual Work Plan.

The Sales Manager is responsible for developing, managing and fostering relationships with stakeholders and corporate partners to secure and grow revenue (including but not limited to, corporate partnerships, affiliates, product endorsements, advertising & merchandise sales and sponsorships & exhibitions for key events) but also deliver value to them in return for their support.

This role will suit a highly motivated individual who can work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining consistency across workloads. The successful candidate will also possess strong relationship management and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  • Achieving targets and KPIs;
  • Identifying and pursuing new business and sales opportunities;
  • Developing and implementing strategies and initiatives;
  • Developing proposals, delivering pitches and securing formal agreements and funds;
  • Managing and nurturing relationships;
  • Representing ACM at various meetings and events;
  • Reporting on targets, progress and results.

Skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a sales role;
  • Ability to meet sales targets, KPIs and deadlines;
  • Positive, proactive, can-do attitude;
  • Self-motivated, ambitious and resilient;
  • An intelligent negotiator with a positive, confident and articulate manner;
  • Not afraid to cold call;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • The ability to work both autonomously and be part of a team.
