ACM International Day of the Midwife

International Day of the Midwife on May 5 is an important day of celebration. It’s an occasion to honour all midwives and what they do for mothers, babies and families around the world. It is a day for us to show appreciation for midwives and help them feel valued, respected and important.

This year’s theme is Follow the Data: Invest in Midwives.

Traditionally ACM celebrates IDM with a walk. There are walks organised all over the country; with your local branch or your local workforce and we encourage all midwives and supporters of midwives to join in.

This year, every registrant receives a pair of 'walk with midwives' socks to wear on the day. Take a photo walking and wearing the socks and tag us @midwives_acm on instagram, dont forget to hashtag #walkwithmidwives and #choosemidwiferycare.

If there isn’t already a walk near you, please plan one by contacting Alicia on

We look forward to celebrating IDM with you for 2021!

Huggies are proudly supporting walks around Australia and will be providing delicious treats for your post walk gathering.
