ACM NSW State Conference 2020 (Postponed)
NSW STATE CONFERENCE 2020
Due to the current situation with COVID-19 ACM have decided to postpone the NSW State Conference to a later date.
We are disappointed as we know you will be, but current advice on travel and attending large gatherings means running this event as planned is inadvisable and would be irresponsible.
We will be announcing a new date shortly at which point you can decide whether you can still attend or whether you'd prefer a full refund.
Thank you for your understanding. We will be in touch as soon as we can with further detail.
We invite you to the ACM NSW State Conference – our conference in Kingscliff! The title of the conference is ‘Shining the light on midwifery'. We are excited to announce we will be welcoming Pat Brodie, Hazel Keedle and Allison Cummins as our keynote speakers.
Date: 3rd and 4th April 2020
Venue: Mantra on Salt Beach, Kingscliff
Professor Pat Brodie
Professor Pat Brodie has been engaged in Australian midwifery practice, management, policy and research for over 30 years. She is a past national President of the Australian College of Midwives and received an AM in the Queen's Birthday honors list for her services to midwifery. In association with colleagues from the University of Technology Sydney Pat played a key role in the development, implementation and ongoing support of a program to strengthen midwifery education in Papua New Guinea . She has extensive experience in mentoring and supporting midwives through the emotional challenges of midwifery practice and continues to be a ‘champion’ for midwifery continuity of care for all women.
Hazel Keedle is a lecturer of midwifery at Western Sydney University and a PhD candidate. Hazel has worked in midwifery group practices, a variety of hospital settings and as a privately practising midwife in both city and regional locations. Hazel’s passion for VBAC came from her own experience of having a VBAC with her daughter in 2008 and since then she has published research on women's experience of having a homebirth after caesarean and on her PhD work exploring women’s experiences of planning a VBAC in Australia.
