Education

The ACM offers you simple and efficient ways of undertaking your CPD.

The ACM Education Program is all about CPD opportunities for midwives – no matter where they work or how they like to learn.  The ACM recognises that every midwife undertakes learning that is individual to their needs and as such offers a wide variety of opportunities for midwives to engage and address their CPD requirements in each registration year.  Being a national organisation with midwifery as its core focus enables the ACM to deliver CPD tailored to the profession and responsive to midwives requests. Opportunities exist to attend the annual National conference which is held in a different Australian city every year, attracting both local and international midwives and health professionals.  There are also a number of State based workshops, conferences and seminars every year ensuring there is variety and multiple opportunities to network with peers in the face to face setting (see Our Events).

In addition the ACM delivers a minimum of 12 new webinars per year each attracting 1 CPD, which can be accessed either at the live event or as a recording at a later date if the live time did not suit an individual’s work/family schedule.  Each new webinar adds to the extensive webinar library which currently contains webinars on over 30 topics (see Webinar Recordings).

Staying in the online space and the ACM has a number of online courses (see E-Learning Courses) that can be completed ranging from 3 to 8 CPD points per course.  The ACM also recognises that journals provide a fabulous resource for midwives to obtain CPD and so recommend the internationally renowned peer review journal Women and Birth.

Finally, the ACM also has a CPD recognition program which assesses courses that are delivered by businesses/individuals external to the ACM that have a midwifery focus.  The intention of the recognition is to highlight to midwives the variety of midwifery related opportunities that are out there and locate the details in one easy to find place (see External CPD Recognised Events).
