Midwifery Practice Review

MIDWIFERY PRACTICE REVIEW

Reflect | Reconnect | Renew | Reimagine

Work-related stress and burnout for Australian midwives are reported to be among the highest in the world. The refreshed MPR program provides midwives with an opportunity to take stock of their professional challenges, find ways to drive solutions, make meaningful supportive connections with other midwives, and find renewed satisfaction and joy in midwifery.

Are you ready to check in with your professional self? The MPR program offers midwives from all settings – hospital-based clinical, private practice, academic, research, leadership and policy - a structured opportunity to reflect on, refine, and reimagine their professional journey. The program is for everyone, from early career midwives to those approaching retirement, and everyone in between.

Join a supportive space of peer connection and expert facilitation to:

  • Consider professional challenges and ways to drive solutions and advocate for change
  • Reflect on your midwifery philosophy and direction
  • Explore leadership, innovation and scope of practice
  • Examine risk management, data, case review and collaboration
  • Gain peer support and tailored mentorship
  • Create a focused plan for growth, learning, self-care and career sustainability.

In alignment with the NMBA’s Safety and Quality Guidelines for Privately Practising Midwives, this program supports privately practicing midwives in fulfilling the requirement for regular participation in a Professional Practice Review Program (PPRP). It offers more than compliance - it’s a chance to pause, connect, grow, and strengthen your identity and confidence as a midwife.

ACM’s Midwifery Practice Review program includes options to undertake the program with your peers in person or virtually. The program involves facilitated group sessions alongside independent reflection and practice review.

The MPR program provides midwives with an opportunity to take stock of their professional challenges, find ways to drive solutions, make meaningful supportive connections with other midwives, and find renewed satisfaction and joy in midwifery. Participants will engage in meaningful discussion, review and reflect on their personal practice, and emerge with an action plan for ongoing development that is deeply aligned to their unique context and aspirations. Whether you're working independently or within a team, this experience will help you feel supported, inspired, and connected.
