NSW State Conference

17 June 2025

Midwives from across New South Wales will come together in Port Macquarie this week for two days of connection, learning, and shared experience at the 2025 NSW State Conference, hosted by the Australian College of Midwives (ACM).

Held at Panthers Port Macquarie on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June, the conference theme, Midwives Gathering at the Breakwall – sharing stories and experiences, reflects the deep connection midwives have to community, to one another, and to the women and families they care for.

Across the two day event, 200 delegates will hear from respected speakers and leaders in maternity care including Chair of the NSW Select Committee on Birth Trauma The Hon Emma Hurst MLC, Breech Birth expert Dr Andrew Bisits, Hurst, Privately Practising Midwife and ACM Board Director Dr Alison Teate, world leader in perineal repair Dr Sara Kindberg Adelskov and Aboriginal Midwife and artist Leona McGrath. Topics will span current research, clinical practice, and policy developments, providing valuable insight and inspiration to midwives working in all settings.

Midwives will have opportunities to connect with peers, build professional networks, and engage in meaningful discussion on the challenges and future directions of midwifery in NSW.

The conference program has been designed to reflect the diversity of midwifery practice and the shared commitment to improving outcomes for women, babies, and communities, including in rural and regional areas of NSW.

The ACM NSW State Conference is a key event for midwives to come together, focus on their practice, and engage in the future of maternity care in New South Wales.
