Presenter

Winnie Orchard

Winnie is the Director of Scientific Programming at the Ann S. Bowers Women's Brain Health Initiative, and a cognitive neuroscientist specialised in Matrescence - the transition to motherhood. Winnie has spent almost a decade researching the ways in which pregnancy and caregiving change our brains and minds across the lifespan. Her research passions extend beyond parenthood, to better understanding women’s health more broadly – how female biology and the experience of womanhood shape the brain, cognition, and behaviour across adolescence, menopause, and the ageing process. Winnie is particularly interested in disentangling the mechanisms of these interactions, including hormonal and other biological mechanisms, as well as the caregiving environment, gender identity, and societal expectations.
