What You Will Be Doing

As an integral member of our team you will work in partnership with women and their families to give the necessary guidance, care and support during their pregnancy, birth and early parenting journey. We are committed to the implementation of innovative models of care to support a wide scope of midwifery practice. We are in the process of implementing a midwifery continuity model of care to complement our current traditional rostered model, team midwifery, and fetal diagnostic service.

Our maternity service supports around 3000 women to give birth per year. Our service is level 5 in the DHHS Maternity Capability Framework and provides care for women of low and high risk profiles including twins and complex pregnancies.

You will be required to provide pregnancy, labour and birth, postnatal and domiciliary care for women in your caseload and as back up for MGP midwives off call, days off, or on leave.

• The MGP will be a vital component of the wider maternity team where collaborative practices and culture will support each other to provide care for all women birthing at Peninsula Health

• We support our midwives to increase their midwifery skills in many areas such as basic ultrasound, perineal repair, waterbirth etc so they can provide comprehensive and continuity of care as well as supporting personal professional development.

We are looking forward to building a new hospital which will include a beautiful new state of the art maternity space for pregnancy, birthing and postnatal care.
