The St George Hospital Maternity Unit offers comprehensive maternity services with varied models of midwifery care for the residents of the St George area.
St George Hospital provide a variety of innovative midwifery models of care. These include Midwifery Group Practice (MGP), Culturally Specific Centering, Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS), and Active Birth Team. There are also complex high risk medical models of care.
St George Hospital is located in Southern Sydney and is a Level 5+ maternity unit that provides maternity care to a culturally diverse population. St George also provides care for women whose pregnancy is either low to high risk. St George will birth approximately 2500 babies per year.
St George Hospital is close to both rail and bus services. Kogarah is the closest railway station and is only a five minute walk from the hospital campus. There is adequate street parking within a 15 minute walk or available in an onsite public carparks.

The Registered Midwife coordinates and delivers high quality midwifery care to patients/clients of the St George Hospital and Health service consistent with SESLHD and St George Hospital policies, procedures and standards.
Qualifications - External
Selection Criteria:

1)Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.

2)Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.

3)Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.

4)Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.

5)Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.

6)Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Midwife in applying these principles.

7)Demonstrated recent post registration midwifery experience.
