Assoc Professor Hazel Keedle
Hazel Keedle is an Associate Professor of Midwifery and Director of Academic Midwifery Programs at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Western Sydney University. With over two decades of experience as a clinician, educator, and researcher in nursing and midwifery, Hazel is dedicated to improving maternity experiences worldwide.
Her research focuses on vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC), birth trauma, and overall maternity experiences. She is particularly interested in understanding and addressing the complexities surrounding VBAC and the impact of childbirth on women's well-being.
Hazel's work is recognised nationally and internationally, with numerous invited conference and seminar presentations and publications in academic journals and books. She is the author of "Birth after Caesarean: Your Journey to a Better Birth" and "A Clinicians Guide to Better Birth after Caesarean," both grounded in her PhD findings.
As the lead researcher of the largest international maternity experiences survey, The Birth Experience Study - International Collaboration, Hazel is committed to amplifying the voices of women and using research to drive positive change in maternity care. She is passionate about advocating for women's rights and ensuring access to respectful and supportive care for every woman during childbirth.
