Assoc Prof Hazel Keedle
Hazel Keedle is an Associate Professor of Midwifery and Director of Academic Midwifery Programs at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Western Sydney University. With over two decades of experience as a clinician, educator, and researcher in nursing and midwifery, Hazel is dedicated to improving maternity experiences worldwide. Her research focuses on vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC), birth trauma, and overall maternity experiences. She is particularly interested in understanding and addressing the complexities surrounding VBAC and the impact of childbirth on women's well-being.
Hazel's work is recognised nationally and internationally, with numerous invited conference and seminar presentations and publications in academic journals and books. She is the author of "Birth after Caesarean: Your Journey to a Better Birth" and "A Clinicians Guide to Better Birth after Caesarean," both grounded in her PhD findings. As the lead researcher of the largest international maternity experiences survey, The Birth Experience Study - International Collaboration, Hazel is committed to amplifying the voices of women and using research to drive positive change in maternity care. She is passionate about advocating for women's rights and ensuring access to respectful and supportive care for every woman during childbirth.
Paula Medway
Dr Paula Medway is a midwife with a background in policy development and analysis, and works as the Principal Midwifery Advisor/Director in the Nursing and Midwifery Office, Department for Health and Wellbeing, South Australian Government. She is also Deputy Chair of the national Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Her professional interests include the development and analysis of high-impact policy to enable midwives to work to full scope of practice in all settings. She has a particular interest in advanced midwifery practice to consider how we might grow and develop the midwifery profession through a broadened scope to improve care for women everywhere. Paula is committed to improving maternity care systems & advocating for equitable, high-quality maternity care, especially among Australia’s priority populations. Her PhD explored how the maternity care of women in Australia aligns with the national maternity Strategy.

Conference Venue & Car Parking Information
The conference is taking place on Level 17 of the RACV City Club, 501 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
Car parking - parking is available onsite in an undercover car park with 400 spaces. Enter via Bourke St. Maximum height restriction of 2.1m. Car parking information available here.
Discounted full day flat rate of $45.00 per car is available for this event. Discount passes will be available
on the conference floor on the day for delegates to use at the boomgate on departure.
Public transport - Melbourne’s trains, trams and buses; and regional trains, coaches and buses (including intertown and regional town bus services) are currently free for passengers until Sunday 31 May.
