2024 IDM Walks

Celebrate International Day of the Midwife on 5th May 2024 and join your local ACM Branch for a walk or event to show your support and celebrate the profession. Register for the walk in your location and then purchase your limited edition midwives socks (optional) to proudly wear on your walk. Make a stylish statement in support of our essential profession!

ACT BRANCH
Canberra   
When: Sunday 5 May, 10:00am  
Where: John Knight Memorial Park at Lake Ginninderra  
Meeting Point:   Meet at the end of Townsend Place to start the walk.
Other Information:              We will end the walk back at the park at 11am in time for the North Canberra Hospital Birth Centre Celebration.

 

NSW BRANCH
South West Sydney Local Health District     
When: Sunday 5 May, 10:00am  
Where: Fitzpatrick Park, 3A Caryina Road, Picnic Point  
Meeting Point:   Park entrance near the amenties block
Other Information:      Partners, kids and furabies welcome.  Wear purple or a midwifery shirt/scarf.

 

NSW BRANCH
Western Sydney Local Health District  
When: Sunday 5 May, 8:30am for a 9:00am start  
Where: Lake Parramatta Reserve, access via Lack Street, North Parramatta  
Meeting Point:   Meet at the cafe at 8:30am for a 9:00 start
Other Information:                              Join for a circuit of the lake (4.2km moderate level walk) then gather to hear about current and future care for women and families within the WSLHD.  Bring water and snacks for after the walk.

Other Information:      Walk then morning tea with coffee van on site.

Meeting Point:   Tea Room - Maternity
Other Information:                          Join for colleagues for morning tea to celebrate International Day of the Midwife!  There are also plans for an afternoon celebration at a nearby venue.  More details here

Darwin      
When: Sunday 5 May, 4:30pm  
Where: Esplanade, Darwin Harbour  
Meeting Point:   Meet and begin walk at the Larrakeyah end of the esplanade 
Other Information:                                         Join us at 4:30pm to walk the waterfront then gather at Wharf One at 5:30pm to enjoy some food and drinks together.  Please register and pay to attend the Wharf One IDM Celebration event via the separate event listing here        

 

QLD BRANCH
Toowoomba

Meeting Point:   Meet at the Botanical Gardens Entrance on Campbell Street 
Other Information:                   Join us after the QLD State Conference for this IDM Walk in Toowoomba's State Heritage listed Queens park and Botanic Gardens

Adelaide

Meeting Point:   Meet at the Victoria Park Grand Stand, 140 Fullarton Road SA 5067
Other Information:                    Join for a walk at 8:30am with breakfast to follow at Velo Precinct at 9:30am.  Please register so we have numbers for the cafe.

Mt Gambier

Where: Clydesdale Cart Ride and Walk  
Meeting Point:   Meet at 40 Square Mile Road, Square Mile
Other Information:             

We will walk/ride from here to “Little Rippa Brewery” for food and fluids. Come prepared for cold/wet weather.
You will need to arrange your own transport to and from this event.
