Full membership of the College is open to all registered midwives currently practising midwifery (whether full or part-time) and includes midwives who are clinicians, educators, managers, researchers, policymakers, and any other professional role in which the individual uses their midwifery knowledge and skills. Full members receive all member services and benefits, voting rights and are eligible for appointment to the Board of Directors and/or College Advisory Committees.

Associate membership is open to midwives who are:
• not currently in the paid workforce (e.g. who are retired, on maternity leave, or undertaking full time post-registration studies) or
• not currently working as a midwife but who wish to maintain membership of the College.

Associate members receive all member services, benefits and voting rights but are not eligible to be a member of the Board of Directors.

Student membership is open to any person undertaking education in an accredited program to gain initial registration to practice midwifery.  Evidence of student enrolment is needed to become a student member.

Membership as a student member ceases on completion of the program of study. Student members receive all member services, benefits and voting rights and are eligible to be a member of College advisory committees, such as the Student Advisory Committee.

Consumer membership is open to any person who supports the Objectives of the College.  Consumer members receive all member services, benefits and voting rights and are eligible to be a member of College Advisory Committees such as the Consumer Advisory Committee.
