Central Queensland University

Central Queensland University offers an educational pathway for those wishing to advance their nursing careers into the field of midwifery. The CQU programs not only provides the necessary qualifications for registration as a midwife but the opportunity for student¹s to continue their midwifery development post endorsement. The CQU Midwifery programs address the current and emerging needs of the modern midwife. A women-centred model of care underpins the innovative work/educational integrated curriculum of the CQU programs.
There are two study options available for studying midwifery with CQU a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery and a Master of Midwifery which is a research focused program that allows students to apply the theoretical knowledge they have gained in their studies and work experience to specific midwifery issues. Charles Sturt University

Students who are Registered Nurses can enrol in a twelve month Distance Education Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery course at Charles Sturt University and a participating hospital in NSW, Victoria or South Australia. The Bachelor program now provides three entry pathways:

Queensland University of Technology

The Graduate Diploma in Midwifery is designed to prepare graduates for beginning level practice as midwives. Students undertake clinical and supporting studies units to enable them to develop competence in the area of midwifery, develop a critical awareness of major issues and trends in midwifery, and develop their understanding of research applied to midwifery. Graduates from the program are eligible to apply to the Queensland Nursing Council for endorsement authorising practice as a midwife. Inherent in these course objectives is the expectation that, on completion of the course, students will have demonstrated their ability to meet the Australian College of Midwives Competencies (2005).
