Complementary Therapies
June 2006
The Australian College of Midwives acknowledges that the use of complementary
therapies may have positive effects on the progress of pregnancy, labour and
birth, and the postnatal period for both the woman and her
baby.
Guidelines:
- Midwives incorporating complimentary therapies
into their practice should either have successfully completed a recognised
education program or refer clients to appropriately qualified
practitioners.
- All care and/or medication/herbal preparations given to
the woman should be documented in her pregnancy care record
